HTC One M9 owners in the UK can finally get Android 6 today
Marshmallowy goodness arrives at last
Finally, some good news for HTC owners – the One M9 is at long last getting an update to Android 6.0 Marshmallow.
It might have been HTC’s latest flagship phone, but for some reason the M9 was left out in the cold while the One M8 got its Marshmallow update early.
That was rectified earlier today, when the update started rolling out to M9 users up and down the country.
According to HTC’s official UK twitter account, the update will be available over the air for unlocked phones and certain carrier-locked handsets. So far that seems to include Vodafone and Three, but there’s no official list.
We’ve begun rolling out the Android 6.0 Marshmallow update to the unlocked One M9 and selected carriers so you should see the update soon.

The One M9 already has HTC’s Sense 7 interface, so don’t expect major UI overhauls when Marshmallow lands.
There should still be a redesigned app drawer and a more convenient notification area, but the rest of the changes will be under the hood.
That means significantly better microSD card support (after Google borked it with KitKat), Google Now on Tap, Doze mode for better battery life, and Chrome tabs integrated into the multitasking drawer.
You’ll have to delete some old apps or clear out those Girls Aloud albums you kept on your phone ‘for a laugh’ (and definitely not because Sound of the Underground is your jam, honest) to make room for the update though.
It weighs in at a hefty 1.26GB, so you’ll want to be on Wi-Fi to avoid rinsing your data plan.
